Editorial Policy: How We Research Our Guides | LaunchUP

How we research and update our guides

Last reviewed: 1 November 2026.

LaunchUP’s guides and tools give general information to help older Australians and their families understand their options. Here’s how we put them together and keep them current.

Who writes our guides

Our guides are written by Martin, founder of LaunchUP, who built the site after helping his mother sort out her affairs. Read more about LaunchUP and the experience behind it. We’re not financial advisers, lawyers or aged care providers, and we don’t give personal advice.

Where our information comes from

  • We use official sources first: Services Australia, My Aged Care, the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, the ATO, Moneysmart and state public trustees.
  • Each guide lists the sources we checked and the date we last reviewed it.
  • When something is unclear or we can’t confirm it from an official source, we leave it out.

How we keep it up to date

  • Age Pension rates and limits change every 20 March and 20 September. We review the calculator and our retirement income pages after each change.
  • Aged care rules change often. We review our My Aged Care and Support at Home guides whenever the government announces a change, and at least every six months.
  • Each guide shows a “Last reviewed” date so you can see how current it is.

Our independence

LaunchUP takes no commissions or referral payments from anyone we mention, including villages, land lease communities, aged care providers, agents and advisers. We sell our own products, the Retirement Move Report and the Leave It Sorted Organiser, and we say so clearly where they appear.

Spotted an error?

Please email info@launchup.com.au. We’ll check it against the official source and correct the page, usually within two business days.
