Is it available in your area?
In order to access the NDIS, it’s important to check if it’s available in your area. The scheme is currently being introduced in different locations across the country, and it may not have been rolled out in your area yet. This is the initial check you need to make to determine your eligibility for NDIS.
Your Age
Also, a friendly heads up that the NDIS is only available to people with disabilities who are under the age of 65. Also, in some states and territories, the rollout of the NDIS is happening in stages based on age. Don’t worry, we’re here to help you figure out what options are available to you!
Your Residency Status
To get help from the NDIS, you need to be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or have a protected Special Category Visa. If you’re not sure if you qualify, you can find more information below, or ask someone for help.
Your Disability
If you’re not sure if the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can help you with your disability, here’s some information that might help. To be eligible for support from the NDIS, your disability must affect your ability to do everyday things, and the NDIS must consider the support you need to be “reasonable and necessary.” If you’re a child under six years old and have a developmental delay that could be improved with early help, you might also be able to get assistance from the NDIS early intervention program.
