NDIA Meeting – Getting Prepared

NDIA Meeting – Getting Prepared

So… You’ve been accepted into the NDIS. We have prepared this easy guide of what will happen next for you.

QUICK GUIDE

We understand your first NDIA meeting can be anxiety-inducing but fret not! At LaunchUP, we’re here to assist you in preparing for it. During your meeting, you’ll converse with a NDIA representative, such as a Local Area Coordinator or a NDIA planner. You have the option to meet them at their office or have them come to your home. To ensure you receive the best plan tailored to your needs and goals, take some time to contemplate your daily activities and the support required for each of them. Also, consider the support you’re already receiving from your family and friends.

let me give you some tips for your first NDIA meeting. They might ask you a few questions like:

  • Do you need any special equipment like a wheelchair or communication device for your daily life? How often do you use it and will it need upgrading in the next year?
  • Have any modifications been made to your home, like ramps or rails, to suit your needs?
  • Do you receive therapeutic, behaviour, or work supports? If you do, how often do you receive them?

Some extra tips

Here are some extra tips for your upcoming NDIS meeting. One of the most important things to keep in mind is your long and short-term goals. Remember, the NDIS is there to help you increase your independence and achieve what you want in life.

To prepare for your meeting, firstly take some time to think about what might be stopping you from achieving your goals. Next, consider what support you need to help you and jot down your answers to these questions. Rest assured, if you feel a little overwhelmed, we’re here to support you every step of the way
